Moving the body is fundamental to both physical and mental health. For those involved in rehabilitation, having foundational knowledge of such bodily movement is indispensable. Rehabilitation is not only for people with chronic diseases, but its scope also covers a wide range of subjects, such as sports-related injuries and trauma, and efforts to promote health in the elderly. In this class, we aim to gain foundational knowledge to enhance the physical and mental health of ourselves or others and to improve their condition by understanding the body's structure and function, which are the basis of rehabilitation. We will discuss a wide range of topics, including the mechanisms of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems that govern movement, training and relaxation methods, rehabilitation techniques, and related considerations. We aim to understand ways to prevent and alleviate neck, shoulder, knee, and lower back pain associated with exercise, and at the same time, we aim to learn knowledge of precautions in various sports and activities of daily living, and the concept of relaxation, etc. |
