Course Overview

Poetry of the everyday. In modern consumer societies, people’s daily lives are inundated with objects. This course aims to examine the role of these objects in modern and contemporary French-language poetry. We will first analyze how everyday poetry allows us to reconsider the world from a different perspective. Finally, we will juxtapose these current themes with emerging new forms of poetic writing, to understand how contemporary poets integrate and transform material reality in their works.
