Course Overview From individual course assignments to graduation theses, students majoring in literature are required to write various forms of "literary criticism." This must certainly not be a mere "book report," but rather an academic "thesis."
This course examines critical theory since the 20th century to help students develop an academic approach to literary studies. Critical theory provides systematic approaches to analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating literary works, offering methodological frameworks for understanding literature. Critical theory serves as a conceptual structure for engaging with literary works and provides analytical tools for scholarly investigation.
Through this course, students will become familiar with academic approaches to literary texts and develop a foundation in literary research methodology.
