Course Overview Course Description
This seminar-based course is designed to introduce students to fundamental methodologies in art history. Throughout the course, we will explore key approaches in the field, discuss Japanese-language sources, read selected foreign-language texts (in English, French, Italian, etc.), and have students present updates on their research progress. Readings will be introduced during the course.

While the primary focus is on Western art, students are encouraged to consider its connections with other regions as needed. The course structure, pace, and content may be adjusted based on factors such as the number of participants.

This course is offered in both semester-long and quarter-based formats under the same title. Students in the quarter system are generally expected to take the course for a full semester. If you need to complete it within a single quarter due to special circumstances, such as studying abroad, please consult the instructor in advance.
