Course Overview

The main topic of this course is reduced questions in English. We will consider their major properties and their analysis within the framework of generative syntax. We will learn how the theory of generative syntax has developed by looking at the specific phenomenon of question reduction. We will also consider similar phenomena in Japanese and other languages and analyze them in terms of comparative syntax.
