Course Overview

This course examines various issues in Sino-Japanese literature,or Japanese literature written in classical Chinese. Specifically, we will cover four topics: Genkyu Shikaawase,shomono (comments on Chinese classics etc. written by Gozan monks),Gozan literature,and bibliographical research of classical books, mainly printed books in the Edo period. The bibliographic research will include practical training by participants.
