Through a close reading of Zhi yan (知言) by Hu Hong and Zhiyan yiyi (知言疑義) by Zhu Xi, this course seeks to deepen understanding of Hu Hong’s thought while also clarifying the intellectual similarities and differences among the two Cheng brothers (the “Two Masters Cheng”), Hu Hong, and Zhu Xi. |
