Course Overview

An Introduction to Sports Writing

This course gives students the opportunity to read and discuss a contemporary sports biography written in English. Students will develop proficiency in expressing ideas about sports in spoken and written English, expand their knowledge of sports culture in English, and improve their critical thinking skills through discussions generated by the main text. By the end of the course, students will feel confident in their ability to speak and write about sports in English, and will have learned more about the importance of sports culture in English-language societies.

Active participation is required for this class. Students will be expected to prepare for classes, which will involve background reading in addition to reading the primary texts.
