Course Overview

In this course, participants will work on an independent research project throughout the semester. Each project will run in close collaboration with the course instructor and, as a result, enrollment in this course will be capped at 2 participants.
Research projects should be related to the student’s MA thesis in the field of history.
Students will be required to devise a reading and research trajectory to accomplish their particular goal. This includes writing a study proposal (approx. 1000 words), developing an appropriate annotated reading list, and designing a research schedule. Each week, students will report (orally and/or in written form) on their progress, on the primary or secondary sources they have read, on problems encountered and issues resolved, etc.
Interested students should contact the instructor with an initial, brief description of their project by April 9. Students will be informed of their acceptance into this course by April 14. They will then be asked to expand their reading list and research schedule to comprise a semester’s worth of academic material and work.
